On the morning of the 14th, in Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture, a man who was climbing was injured in both arms by a bear.

Police are urging caution to nearby residents and climbers.

Before 8 am on the 14th, at Shiozawa Pass in Kaminagano, Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture, a man in his 40s was walking alone on a mountain trail when a bear suddenly appeared and bit his arms.

The injured man descended on his own, sought help from a nearby private house, and was taken to a hospital for treatment, but according to the police, he was conscious when he was taken.

The bear was about one meter long, and after attacking the man about an hour after he started climbing the mountain, he left in the west direction of the forest.

It is rare for bears to appear on the mountain trails at the site, so the police are patrolling the area and calling attention to residents and climbers, saying that they may appear again.

Also, when climbing mountains, we encourage people to carry something that makes a sound, such as a bell or whistle.
