After an ultra-publicized trial opposing him to his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp can now focus on his professional life.

The American actor is in the cast of "Jeanne du Barry", the next film by French director Maïwenn.

He will play Louis XV, and is absolutely unrecognizable in the first photo of the project...

A royal look for his return to the cinema!

After much talk about him for his legal escapades, Johnny Depp has finally returned to the path of film sets.

Emerged victorious from his trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, who accuses him of domestic violence, the American actor first gave a series of concerts in Europe, before settling down in Versailles to shoot in the whole Maïwenn's new film,

Jeanne du Barry.

Johnny Depp unrecognizable as Louis XV

The ex-spouse of Vanessa Paradis will play the King of France Louis XV.

It was the American media

Deadline

which made the information official and then, in the process, unveiled the first photo of Johnny Depp in the skin of the tricolor sovereign.

A very surprising image since it is difficult to recognize the 59-year-old actor who appears in profile, blindfolded, with a wig and a powdered face.

A release for next year

Maïwann's film will focus on a love story, the one that Louis XV had with Jeanne du Barry.

It is Maïwenn who will play the role of this commoner who has become a courtesan.

"Maïwenn had wanted to work with him for a long time, it was the opportunity. It's a film with a budget of 20 million euros, the production therefore wanted something heavy. And then Johnny got along very well with Maïwenn, we already feels a real complicity between them”, reported at the end of June a source close to the magazine

The film will describe the arrival at Versailles of Jeanne du Barry, who shakes up conventions and scandalizes the court.

In the casting, we will find Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Richard, Melvil Poupaud, or even Noémie Lvovsky.

Filming began at the end of July, notably at the Palace of Versailles, for more realism.

We do not yet know the official release date of the film, but some specialized sites are talking about a release for next year.
