American actress Anne Heche is in desperate condition after a car accident last week in Los Angeles and "is not expected to survive", according to American media.

In a press release, the spokesperson for her family has already spoken of her in the past tense.

There is no longer any hope for Anne Heche.

In a statement, a family spokesperson updated the actress on her health following her car accident last week in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, following her accident, Anne Heche suffered an anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition, the spokesperson said.

"She shouldn't survive."

"Anne had a huge heart"

The actress remains on life support because "she has long wanted to be able to donate her organs" and doctors are determining if any of them are viable.

In his statement, the spokesperson already speaks of Anne Heche in the past tense: "Anne had a huge heart and left a memorable impression on everyone she met. Beyond her extraordinary talent, she considered that spreading kindness and joy was her life's work – she fought especially for everyone to be more accepted no matter who he or she loved.

An investigation is open

The actress has been in a coma since her crash on Aug. 5 when her car slammed into a two-story home in the Mar Vista neighborhood, "causing structural damage as well as a heavy fire," according to Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire took 65 minutes for 59 firefighters to put out, according to the same source.

Los Angeles police said in a statement Thursday that they would conduct blood tests on Anne Heche and that investigators would "bring the matter to the proper legal authority."

The police, however, did not give any details on possible legal consequences.

According to

TMZ

, a publication specializing in celebrity coverage, which cites unnamed law enforcement sources, Anne Heche tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, an ultra-potent and addictive synthetic opiate used in some treatments.
