Since 2018, the Internet Literature Center of the Chinese Writers Association has released the "Blue Book of Chinese Internet Literature" every year, taking the member units of the National Joint Conference of Key Internet Literature Websites as the main statistical objects, and reviewing the development of Internet literature in the past year in many aspects.
The newly released blue book pointed out that in 2021, more attention will be paid to the international dissemination of online literature, and the forms of online literature going overseas will be more abundant and diverse.
A consensus has been formed on "Internet Literature Going Overseas"; the global influence of Chinese Internet literature continues to expand; the composition of overseas readers is diverse, with higher education levels, and most of them are women; an overseas localized communication system has been initially established.
In 2021, the overseas market size of online literature will exceed 3 billion yuan, with 145 million overseas users, covering most countries and regions in the world.
A total of more than 10,000 online works have been exported overseas.
Among them, more than 4,000 physical books have been authorized, and more than 3,000 translation works have been launched online.
According to the Blue Book, in 2021, major literary websites across the country will add more than 270,000 works of reality themes, a year-on-year increase of 27%, and the stock of reality-themed works will exceed 1.3 million; The stock of works exceeds 1.1 million; more than 220,000 historical works are newly added, an increase of 11% year-on-year, and the stock of historical works exceeds 2.3 million.
Fantasy-themed works show the feelings of family, country and world, and are still loved by many readers.
Data from the Blue Book shows that in 2021, more than 1.5 million new registered authors and 130,000 new contracted authors will be added to 45 major online literature websites across the country. Most of the new online literature authors will be "Gen Z". 20, and nearly 200 online literature organizations at all levels.
The Blue Book pointed out that in 2021, the momentum of industry transformation and upgrading will continue, and IP adaptation will become more diverse.
The annual revenue of 45 major online literature websites across the country exceeded 20 billion yuan, with an increase of 178.7 billion words; more than 100 film and television plays were adapted from online literature IPs, and among the top ten plays in the total broadcast index, online literature IPs accounted for 60%; Anime adaptations of online literature have become the main force of Chinese comics, with more than 30 adaptations in 2021, accounting for about 50% of the newly launched animations throughout the year.
The proportion of online literature IP adaptations in micro-sketches has increased year by year. In 2021, there will be more than 300 new authorizations, a year-on-year increase of 77%. The proportion of online literature IP micro-series has increased from 8.4% last year to 30.8%, an increase of 226 year-on-year. %; the scale of audio adaptation has grown rapidly.
As of 2021, there will be nearly 80,000 IP voice authorizations for major online literature websites, accounting for 93.13% of the total IP authorizations.
