In the dispute over custody of their children Daisy and Otis, American actress and director Olivia Wilde prevailed against her former partner Jason Sudeikis.

A family court in New York on Wednesday denied the comedian's request to have the city declared the primary residence of his eight-year-old son and sister, who is three years younger.

Wilde had stated that in recent years the children had mostly gone to school or kindergarten in Los Angeles and London.

The court has now ruled that the California judiciary will in future negotiate custody and whereabouts, since the Pacific state is the "home state" of the children.

Wilde separated from Sudeikis in winter 2020 after nine years together.

As it became known at the time, she had fallen in love with British singer and actor Harry Styles a few months earlier while filming the thriller "Don't Worry Darling".

The fact that the end of the relationship between the thirty-eight-year-old and the "Ted Lasso" actor Sudeikis was less harmonious than initially stated became clear in April at the CinemaCon, the annual conference of cinema operators.

At that time, the 46-year-old Sudeikis had his former fiancee served a custody document on the stage in Las Vegas.
