9th is the day of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki.

At the Chiba Prefectural Office, survivors of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki talked about their experiences at the time, wishing for the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Moriki Edamitsu (87), who lives in Chiba City, spoke about his experience.

When he was 10 years old, he was bombed in Nagasaki, about 3 kilometers from the hypocenter.

Edamitsu said, "I felt a tremendous noise and heat, and when I got home, all my furniture and other items had been blown away. I was seriously injured when something stuck in my leg, and many people died in a nearby river. ” and looked back on the situation at the time.

The 8th was the first time that Mr. Edamitsu spoke about his experiences at that time, and the 50 or so people who gathered there listened intently.

A man in his 70s said, "I was born after the war, but I could imagine the tragedy of that time. I want all nuclear weapons to disappear from the world as soon as possible."

At the Chiba prefectural government office, a panel exhibition is also being held until the 10th, with 32 paintings and photographs depicting the state of Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the atomic bombings.

Michiko Kodama, the organizer of the event and chairman of the Chiba Prefecture Atomic Bomb Victims Association, who was also exposed to the atomic bombing in Hiroshima, said, "I want people around me to tell the people around me what they saw and heard about the tragedy and severity of war. As long as I live, I would like to talk about my experience of the atomic bombing and wish for the abolition of nuclear weapons."
