Snoop Dogg will star in
The Underdoggs
, a comedy he will co-produce with MGM under the Death Row Pictures banner.
A project to which the rapper is particularly attached since he is, with his production partner Constance Schwartz-Morin, behind the original idea of the film.
Indeed, the artist was inspired by his experience as a coach in the Snoop Youth Football League, which he founded with Constance Schwartz.
A very personal project
The Underdoggs
will follow the story of NFL star Jaycen Jenning, a character who will be played by Snoop Dogg.
In addition, the realization was entrusted to Charles Stone while Danny Segal and Isaac Schamis take care of the writing as Deadline points out.
“(Being a coach) gave us invaluable life lessons that we were able to share with children in situations similar to mine when I was growing up.
My hope is that this film sheds light on the realities that children and adults face in neighborhoods and in the complex world of football,” the rapper said in a statement.
