Nara Prefecture and Nara City announced on the 5th that 2,349 new people were confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
It is the second-highest number of new infections in a single day, down by 28 from the previous Friday.
A total of 136,971 people were confirmed to be infected.
Seven deaths were also announced, bringing the total number of deaths in the prefecture to 417.
The number of seriously ill patients increased by 4 from the 4th to 15.
