The Ministry of Health has followed the recommendations of the High Authority for Health (HAS) in terms of the time between the administration of the two doses of the vaccine against monkeypox.

He announced on Thursday the extension of the spacing between the two injections, which was previously 28 days.

This is what the HAS had recommended on July 7, with the aim in particular of allowing a greater number of patients to be vaccinated.

The organization had recommended a longer period between the two doses “in the event of a tension in the supply of vaccines”.

However, the extension does not concern immunocompromised people, for whom it is always advisable to allow 28 days to pass between the two injections.

The ministry denies any lack of vaccines

Asked about a possible future shortage of vaccines having led to the lengthening of the wait between the two inoculations, the Ministry of Health assured that this was not the case.

Minister François Braun said that the stocks would make it possible to vaccinate 250,000 people, that is to say the target population.

The latter is mainly made up of men who have sex with men.

As a reminder, immunocompromised patients are recommended to be injected with three doses of the monkeypox vaccine.

People who have already been vaccinated against smallpox in the past can, however, be satisfied with a single dose.
