The US Navy's nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, which is conducting surveillance activities in response to China's ballistic missile launches, was released to the Japanese and American media on the 5th.


In this context, the commanders of the U.S. military and the Self-Defense Forces jointly held a press conference and reiterated their intention to strengthen cooperation for the stability of the Indo-Pacific region.

The activity was released on the US Navy's nuclear aircraft carrier "Ronald Reagan" based at Yokosuka base in Kanagawa prefecture.



It is said that China is conducting surveillance activities in response to the launch of a ballistic missile toward Taiwan's surrounding waters on the 4th.



According to the U.S. military, when the "Ronald Reagan" was released, it was deployed in the Pacific Ocean about 540 kilometers south of the Yokosuka base, and fighter planes could be seen arriving and departing on the deck.



Afterwards, Commander Michael Donnelly of the 5th Carrier Strike Group, to which the carrier belongs, and Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander of the Escort Fleet of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, jointly held a press conference.



In it, Commander Donnelly said, "Our continued operations enable us to maintain stability and security in the Indo-Pacific. and improve collective self-defense capabilities," he said.



In response, Admiral Fukuda said, "To realize a free and open Indo-Pacific, we will strengthen cooperation and contribute to the peace and stability of the region."



According to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, it is not conducting joint exercises with "Ronald Reagan" this time.
