Fan robes for dogs of Japan to fight the heat

A Japanese company has decided to intervene to protect dogs and cats from the current heat wave, by designing a robe that includes a battery-powered fan, according to Japanese media.

And a clothing designer designed wearable fans for dogs to keep them cool in the summer heat.

The designed mesh outfit features a built-in 80g battery-powered fan that helps circulate cool air around the animal to keep it cool.

The innovative clothing was designed by Ri Ozawa, president of maternity clothing company Sweet Mommy, who collaborated with a vet on the design.

The idea was based on the design of jackets

equipped with fans, which are common among construction workers who work in hot weather.

Ray said the idea came to her when she saw how tired a Chihuahua can be when out for walks in the summer heat, noting that the robe can also be used for cats.

During the recent heat wave, experts advised dog owners to take their dogs for walks in the early morning or late evening to avoid peak midday heat, which in some places reached 40 degrees.

One dog owner commented on the new robe, saying that he tried to cool his dogs, "with packs of dry ice," noting happily that "it's easier to walk my dogs with this fan."
