Jordan imposes a tax on influencers, "Youtubers" and social media celebrities

The Income Tax Department in Jordan revealed today that it has decided to impose a tax on activists, celebrities, influencers, "YouTubers", publishers of live broadcast content, game videos, promotion activists and advertising services, or any people who earn income from their activity and their appearance on various communication sites.

The department has allocated a team of its employees to help social media celebrities and people who generate financial revenues from their activities on these sites to adjust their legal status, submit tax returns on the amounts generated from their various activities and pay the taxes due on them. 

The department indicated that all social media celebrities or any person who obtains or achieves income from it is subject to the law, whether the income tax law or the general sales tax law. 


The department called on activists, celebrities, influencers, "YouTubers", publishers of live broadcast content, game videos, activists of promotion and advertising services, or any people who earn income from their activity and their appearance on various social media sites of all kinds to voluntarily take the initiative to review the department and announce their entry from this activity in order to avoid being subjected to fines and legal procedures. that will be taken against those who voluntarily fail to register.

It is noteworthy that Article 3 of the Income Tax Law in Jordan stipulates that any income generated in the Kingdom by any person or earned from it shall be subject to tax regardless of the place of payment.

The department indicated that all social media celebrities, who meet the sales tax registration limit, must register in the general sales tax network, and announce their revenues for all their activities on social networking sites of all kinds and activities, as well as from all channels and activities on the Internet that check. They have financial revenues subject to the law.
