It was found that more than 120 medical staff at Fukuoka University Hospital in Fukuoka City were unable to go to work due to being in close contact with the new coronavirus, and two wards were closed.

As the infection continues to spread, the provision of medical care is also affected.

According to Fukuoka University Hospital in Jonan Ward, Fukuoka City, which has been designated as a priority medical institution for the new coronavirus, out of about 1,900 medical staff such as doctors and nurses working at the hospital, the person himself/herself has been infected with the new coronavirus. More than 120 people are unable to go to work because their family members are infected or become close contacts.

In response to this, the hospital decided to close two wards in the hospital that accept general patients by the 1st because they could not provide sufficient medical care.

Patients who were hospitalized in a closed ward have been moved to another ward to continue treatment, but the acceptance of new inpatients is partially restricted.

Hiroyasu Ishikura, director of the Emergency and Critical Care Center at Fukuoka University Hospital, told NHK, ``The balance between medical demand and provision has been lost, and we have had to close the ward. It's hard to recover from these situations."
