On August 2, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying hosted a regular press conference.

A reporter mentioned that the US Secretary of State talked about the question of whether US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is "visiting Taiwan" yesterday. What is China's comment on that?

Hua Chunying said in this regard, I think the whole world can see very clearly that it is the United States that is taking provocative actions, which has led to the escalation of tension in the Taiwan Strait, and the United States should and must take full responsibility for this.

The relevant remarks made by Secretary Blinken you just mentioned, confounding right and wrong, once again profoundly demonstrated the hegemonic mentality and the logic of robbers of some people in the United States, that is, I can arbitrarily provoke you, but you cannot oppose or defend yourself.

Recently, China has repeatedly stated China's solemn position that China firmly opposes the US House Speaker's planned visit to Taiwan through multiple channels and at various levels in Beijing and Washington. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate a few points.

First, all agencies of the U.S. government, including the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, should implement the foreign policies recognized and committed by the U.S. government.

In 1979, the U.S. government made a clear commitment in the communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States that the United States of America recognized the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China.

As an integral part of the U.S. government, the U.S. Congress should strictly abide by the foreign policy recognized and committed by the U.S. government.

As the No. 3 figure in the U.S. government, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives visited Taiwan on a U.S. military plane, which is by no means an unofficial act.

Second, the wrong actions of individual US politicians in the past should not set a precedent, let alone serve as an excuse for the US to make mistakes on the Taiwan issue.

Third, the one-China principle is a recognized basic norm in international relations and a general consensus of the international community.

It is on the basis of the one-China principle that China has established diplomatic relations with 181 countries, including the United States. The United States has made solemn commitments to China on the one-China principle in the three Sino-US joint communiques.

In recent years, the U.S. has verbally claimed to support the one-China policy, but its actions have continued to go backwards and even hollowed out the one-China principle. It has not only unilaterally fabricated it, but China has never recognized it and firmly opposes the so-called Taiwan Relations Act. The 6 guarantees are packed into its one-China policy statement, and it also violates the promise of only maintaining unofficial contacts with Taiwan, continuously improving the level of US-Taiwan contacts, and continuing to increase arms sales to Taiwan.

Many insightful people in the U.S. and abroad are very clear about this, and have repeatedly pointed out the danger of the U.S. actions.

An example is this year's World Economic Forum in Davos. Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger clearly pointed out that the agreement reached when China and the US established diplomatic relations as I understand it is that the US will adhere to the one-China principle, and it is crucial to adhere to the one-China principle.

The United States should not push the two "China" solutions through deceptive or incremental approaches.

Then, after the recent news about the US House of Representatives' visit to Taiwan, many people, including many mainstream media think tanks in the US, and some former politicians from some US allies countries have also publicly stated that Pelosi's visit to Taiwan will be foolish and dangerous for whatever reason. And unnecessarily, is a dangerous gamble, and it's hard to imagine a more reckless and provocative move.

If the US misjudges or handles the situation across the Taiwan Strait incorrectly, it will have disastrous consequences for the security, prosperity and order of the Taiwan region and the world at large.

Fourth, out of the strategic support and connivance of the US to use Taiwan to control China, the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces have been deliberately provoking China on the Taiwan issue, pressing China's red line and bottom line step by step. is behind.

Faced with the reckless actions of the US in disregard of China's repeated solemn representations, any countermeasures taken by China will be justified and necessary.

This is also the right of any independent sovereign country, not to mention that China is a big country with a history of 5,000 years and a population of more than 1.4 billion. I hope the US will have a very clear understanding of this.

Fifth, the history of the Taiwan issue is clear. The fact and status quo that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China is clear. We firmly oppose "Taiwan independence" splits and external interference, and will never leave any space for any form of "Taiwan independence" forces.

The position of the Chinese government and Chinese people on the Taiwan issue has been consistent. Resolutely safeguarding China's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity is the firm will of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people. Realizing the complete reunification of the motherland is the common aspiration of all Chinese sons and daughters. The United States should give up any The attempt to play the Taiwan card is consistent with words and deeds, strictly abides by the one-China principle, and implements the three Sino-US joint communiqués.

If the U.S. goes its own way, the U.S. will be responsible for all serious consequences.
