Over the years, the music organizer Selam has invited internationally great artists such as Amadou & Mariam and Youssou N'Dour, who have attracted audiences from all target groups.

- The whole purpose of starting Selam was that there was a lack of cultural offerings for some target groups.

Music from Africa, Latin America and the West Indies was not seen on the public stages we have, says Teshome Wondimu, founder and CEO of Selam.

Celebrating with concert month

Throughout August, Selam celebrates 25 years with a series of concerts around Stockholm.

First up is Peruvian star Eva Ayllón at the Concert Hall on August 2.

Selam also collaborates with the Stockholm culture festival, where the singer Yemi Alade together with the Somali disco funk band Dur Dur Band International are expected to attract up to 20,000 people in the audience, when they perform at this year's outdoor concert on Gustav Adolfs torg later in August.

“Will do even more”

In addition to organizing concerts, Selam works, among other things, to reach out with Swedish music around the world, as well as to run various development work and aid projects in culture around Africa.

- After 25 years, we feel that we have changed the cultural offer, but we have come halfway and will do even more, says Teshome Wondimu.
