Three days after the body of a missing 14-year-old from Baden-Württemberg was found, a suspect is in custody.

The investigators told journalists in Freiburg on Monday that there was an urgent suspicion against the 29-year-old man.

He is said to have driven the girl in his car from Gottenheim in Baden-Württemberg around 300 kilometers to the Wetteraukreis in Hesse.

In the night of July 22, both are said to have stayed longer at a lake.

Despite an autopsy on Saturday, the cause of death could not be determined.

According to the investigators, the suspect was placed in a psychiatric hospital as a teenager in 2007 for an attempted sexual offense.

He was only released in 2017.

The 14-year-old from the wine-growing community of Gottenheim in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district has been missing since the evening of July 21.

The police were searching for the teenager with high pressure.

Her body was found on Friday in Teufelsee in the Hessian Wetteraukreis.

An autopsy on Saturday confirmed her identity.
