The film became the box office champion in Chinese film history so far.

  Zhang Yi won the Best Actor Award for his role as Zhang Xianchen in "Above the Cliff". He won the Golden Rooster Award and the Hundred Flowers Award for Best Actor for this role at the same time.

  Yuan Quan won the Best Actress Award for playing the role of Wen Ting, director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine in the anti-epidemic movie "Chinese Doctor".
