Is the seventh wave of Covid coming to an end?
Some indicators are relatively reassuring since Public Health France notes a drop in the incidence rate and hospitalizations.
But with 823 patients last week, critical care admissions are still high.
The seventh wave is therefore not yet over, according to epidemiologist Benjamin Davido.
Still too high a rate of positivity and hospitalizations
"I don't think we can say it's over, because there was something new in this seventh wave, it's the high positivity rate, between 25 and 30%", explains Benjamin Davidoff at the microphone of Europe 1. "It is clear that it is difficult to observe a decrease in this rate of positivity. Although we observe a decrease in the rate of contamination, around 60,000 cases, we also know that the summer period, even more the month of August, is not conducive to systematic screening of symptomatic cases.

The epidemiologist continues, "the other element that goes in this direction is that for the moment hospitalizations remain on a high plateau. So we must remain cautious, and we hope that by August we will observe a significant reduction in contamination and hospital cases so that, at the start of the school year, we will be in a more comfortable situation.
