Among the paintings of the Jordanian heritage, and the singing of two artists from Egypt and Syria, the activities of the 36th session of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts 2022, which will continue over 10 days, began last night, with Jordanian, Arab and international participation.

The festival’s activities are organized under the slogan “Norte Layalina” in the ancient city of Jerash on the southern and northern theatres, the Artemis Theater, the main square, the Sound and Light Theater, and columns Street, in addition to other events in Amman, Irbid, Madaba, and Fuheis.

At the opening ceremony, the Jordanian Minister of Culture, Haifa Al-Najjar, the head of the Higher Committee of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, said: "Tonight we cross a new arch of joy, similar to the triumphal arches decorated to welcome you. We pass under the arch of the 36th Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts, To a new centenary in which joy takes root, the values ​​of creativity rise, and the duality of art and culture is manifested.”

She added, "Today, the poet, storyteller and novelist share with the musician, singer and actor the torch that has been throughout its years, and since it first ignited the values ​​of creativity, they shine in the shadows of its light, in an evening worthy of Jordan... worthy of his creator, who made of deaf stones rosy cities that transcend civilizations, and perhaps these The runways in which we meet are the greatest civilized evidence of the ancientness of this land and its people.”

Al-Najjar stressed that "the festival is different this year because it carries a lot of joy. Its program is full of poetry, narration, criticism, and arts in all their forms, including singing, music, theater, formation, crafts, cultural industries, and Jordanian, Arab and international heritage and folklore troupes."

For his part, the mayor of the Greater Jerash Municipality, Ahmed Hashem Al-Atoum, said, “The people of Jerash, as usual, and with them all Jordanians welcome their guests and gather around their annual festival, through which we were keen to represent the mosaic of the local community in a big and double this year, believing in the importance of this role in carrying a message The national festival to the world.

While the musician Tariq Al-Nasser, who performed the opening ceremony with his artistic band “Rum”, considered “the Jerash Festival a new beginning, and I hope to entertain the audience with this concert, as the festival’s message is to preserve the beauty of music, and take the audience to an atmosphere of joy.”

The program of the opening ceremony varied between special works by Nasser and "Rum", and paragraphs from the Jordanian heritage, as the show hosted the Ma'an Folklore Troupe, and the Jordan Voice Troupe for Folklore from Ramtha, and 31 musicians participated in the show.

The opening ceremony also hosted two Arab stars, the artist Wael El-Fashni from Egypt, and the artist Mays Harb from Syria.
