While the green ministers of the German coalition government are trying to hide the incredible joy of the implementation of their green party program (exiting the gas energy industry ahead of schedule, though not of their own free will) and dodging criticism from all sides (“give more gas and nuclear energy”), politicians from the plow they come out with the demands of their voters.

Because they know how things stand with the real interests and aspirations of the simple German people.

The northeast of Germany, where the entry point of Nord Stream 2 is located, was very hopeful for the timely commissioning of this gigantic project.

Because these are jobs, tax deductions and generally money and prosperity.

But long before any Ukraine, the US administration did everything to prevent the finished pipeline from working.

And the politicians in Berlin went along with Washington, despite the fact that these were not German sanctions at all.

Thus destroying the dreams and prospects of their own population on the Baltic coast.

And now local politicians are striking back.

Local politicians from the island of Rügen have approached the state and federal governments with a proposal to use the Nord Stream 2 Baltic gas pipeline.

The letter, which is in the possession of the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, was signed by seven mayors.

As Mayor of Sassnitz Frank Kracht (non-partisan) told the DPA agency the day before, several other municipalities subsequently signed it.

“The path chosen by the German government to abandon Russian energy sources is not the right one,” the letter from local politicians says.

To ensure energy security, they propose putting Nord Stream 2 into operation in the event of problems with gas supply through Nord Stream 1.

What a coincidence - just a week ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin again spoke about the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

“It can be put into operation,” he said in connection with the reduction in supplies through Nord Stream 1.

However, the German government rejects such an entry.

Observers note the schizophrenic approach of the Berlin government: two pipelines lie side by side - through one of them they demand an increase in gas supply from a Russian supplier, and the possibility of obtaining exactly the same gas from the same supplier through a neighboring pipe is considered "raising a white flag to Putin."

Nevertheless, against the background of the wildest accusations from the German media and some politicians against Gazprom and Russia, Gazprom itself booked significantly more capacity on the Transgas pipeline through Slovakia than in previous days to compensate for the reduction in supplies via Nord Stream - one".

This is to the question of "using gas as a weapon."

If so, then why are the Russians trying to solve the problem of filling the German network with gas from other sources?

L is logic.

Which is not enough for German politicians.

There remains hope for local politicians in the northern cities, who have to look their people in the eye every day not on TV, but on the street.
