Algerian "Sola" wins the Black Iris at the "Amman Film Festival"

The Algerian film "Sola", directed by Salah Esaad, won the Black Iris Award for the best Arab feature film at the "Amman International Film Festival - First Film" in its third session, which concluded on the first evening in Jordan.

The competition included 11 films, and the jury gave a special mention to the Somali film “The Grave Digger’s Wife,” directed by Khader Ahmed.

In the long-running Arab documentaries category, which included seven films, the Black Iris Award won the film "Little Palestine" by Palestinian-Syrian director Abdullah Al-Khatib.

The Iraqi film “Take Me to the Cinema,” directed by Baqir Jaafar, received a special mention from the jury.

The Lebanese film "The Blue Prisoners", directed by Zina Daccache, also received a special mention for its editor, Myriam Geagea.

In the short film competition, which included 14 films, the Algerian film “My Mother’s Voice” by Mourad Hamla won the award.

In the International Films section, which included nine films from different countries, the audience vote award, which amounted to $5,000, went to the film “The Crossing” directed by Florence Maillet from France.
