Exorbitant prices, interminable waiting times, almost a one in two chance of failing the exam, in France, the driving license is often the subject of anxious discussions among learner drivers.

About 1.5 million people take the exam each year in France, making the driving license the most important exam in terms of the number of candidates.
Some will bet on accompanied driving when others will prefer to give up, seeing the bills accumulate.
But why is it so complicated to get a driver's license?
