“The Archive” lectures on “Oral History”

As part of its educational and awareness-raising role on the importance of documenting the past and codifying the present, the National Archives and Library organized a training course on “Inventory of Documents in Governmental Entities” and a lecture entitled: “Oral History in the National Archives and Library”.

The virtual training course was presented by Amal Abdel Hamid, Head of the Government Archives Organization Unit at the National Archives and Library, which focused on the document inventory mechanism in government agencies in all preservation sites inside and outside the institution.

While the virtual lecture was presented by the Head of the Oral History Department in the Archives, Maitha Al Zaabi, and a senior researcher in the department, Maryam Al Mazrouei.

The National Archives and Library's interest in the interviews conducted by oral history teams with senior citizens, and many of the flags and symbols of the Emirates who witnessed the establishment of the union, so that generations could learn lessons from their distinguished experiences.

The two lectures also shed light on the objectives of oral history, methods of conducting interviews by audio, audio and video (video), international standards, and oral history topics, such as: social life, political and administrative life, economic and cultural life, architecture and the arts, and others.
