"Emirates Today" newspaper, the Dubai Health Authority and the "Al-Amin" service signed a new memorandum of understanding to launch the 11th edition of the "My Blood for My Country" campaign, which aims to invite the community to donate blood, to provide blood units for thousands of patients suffering from chronic diseases, emergencies and accident injuries.

The memorandum was signed yesterday at the headquarters of the Health Innovation Center of the authority, in the presence of its director general, Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, and a number of officials in the participating authorities.

The initiative is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of a ceremony honoring the campaign's strategic partners, who have supported it over the years by participating in a number of campaigns, and supplying the Dubai Blood Donation Center with a large number of blood units.

The campaign honored 43 bodies, including 14 government agencies, 13 non-profit organizations (charities and institutions), eight private institutions, and eight donors among the most generous donors, including the youngest blood donor, an 18-year-old citizen, and two donors in the rare blood category.

The editor-in-chief of "Emirates Today", Abdullah Al-Qamzi, said that the "My Blood for My Country" campaign has succeeded since its launch in achieving its goals, by providing large quantities of blood units to save critical illness cases, and those with chronic diseases, such as cancer and dialysis cases, and people injured in accidents. eloquent and they need blood to save their lives.

He added that "Emirates Today" contributed, through its website, digital platforms, and through the paper edition, to spreading awareness of the importance of blood donation, and showing the great return for each donation in saving three patients and injured.

Al Qamzi stated that «Emirates Today» has participated in organizing the campaign since its launch in 2012, and harnesses its capabilities to support it so that it is a renewable artery for pumping blood units in hospitals and health centers, which meets any needs of patients and injured.

He called on members of the community, citizens and residents of various nationalities, to participate in the initiative and donate blood, as part of giving back to the homeland, and an affirmation of the human values ​​rooted in the UAE society.

For his part, the General Supervisor of Al-Ameen Service, Omar Al-Falasi, confirmed that the service’s participation in the “My Blood for My Country” campaign is one of its societal responsibilities, as the service urges instilling a culture of blood donation, and encouraging community members to take initiative and participate, because blood donation contributes to saving lives. the sick and the needy.

He added that Al-Ameen service is looking forward to the 11th round of the campaign, after the great success it achieved in its previous sessions.

He added that the "My Blood for My Country" campaign aims to spread the culture of blood donation and enhance the community's role in humanitarian work and serving the country.

"We look forward in the next session to more giving, spreading awareness and contributing to community service," he said.

In turn, the Executive Director of the Dubai Health Care Corporation, Dr. Younis Kazim, confirmed that the Health Authority is proud of the existence of this partnership to serve patients, and emphasizes the fulfillment of its obligations towards those who need blood on a regular basis, and towards those injured in accidents.

He explained that the authority paid great attention to the Dubai Blood Donation Center, and worked to provide it with the best medical and technical assistance competencies, and the latest technologies, equipment and medical supplies for blood collection, transfusion and preservation until it became one of the most important internationally approved and reliable centers, according to the best standards related to blood safety and security.

The "My Blood for My Country" campaign was launched in its first session in 2012, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

His Highness was the first to donate blood, which contributed to the success of the initiative and encouraged community members to participate in it, especially after His Highness emphasized the importance of the initiative by saying, “Blood donation is the best gift that a citizen and resident can give as an expression of love for the homeland, especially since there are sick and injured in Every drop of blood is needed.
