The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to pay a lump-sum death allowance for the first time for a woman in her 90s who died after receiving the new coronavirus vaccine, saying that the possibility of her death due to the vaccination cannot be ruled out.

Regarding vaccination of the new coronavirus, if a disorder remains or dies due to a side reaction, it will be subject to relief under the Immunization Law, and medical care will be given to those who are recognized by the government as having a causal relationship with vaccination. Expenses will be paid.



On the 25th, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare held a subcommittee made up of experts and decided to provide relief for a 91-year-old woman who died after vaccination.



A maximum of 44.2 million yen will be paid to the bereaved family as a lump-sum death allowance, and 212,000 yen will be paid as a funeral fee.



The type of vaccine inoculated and the number of inoculations are not disclosed.



Since the woman had an acute myocardial infarction, she said that she judged her causal relationship based on her death certificate and medical records.



According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, 850 people have been certified for relief by causing anaphylaxis after vaccination, but this is the first time that a lump-sum death allowance has been paid.
