Kuwait.. Execution of a citizen who treacherously killed his wife days after her birth

On Monday, the Kuwaiti Criminal Court sentenced to death a citizen who killed his wife, and rejected his request to reduce the sentence on the grounds that he had a psychiatric file.

This ruling is considered the first of its kind, after the Court of Cassation established a principle by text that mental illness does not exempt from criminal responsibility.

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper, "Al-Qabas", the accused committed his crime in Al-Ardiya area after he lured his wife due to disagreements between them, as she was in her father's house days after her birth, before he asked her to go out with him to reach an understanding to solve some problems, but he killed her.

The Court of Cassation, in a previous ruling, confirmed that mental illness is not always a condition for lack of responsibility.

Other provisions made it clear that common sense prevents the commission of some crimes, even if the perpetrator claims that he is unaware because of the mental stimulus he was taking at the time of the crime.
