Disclosure of the reason for the Egyptian court's request to execute the killer of the Mansoura student during a live broadcast

An Egyptian court demanded that the Egyptian legislator carry out the death sentence against the accused, Mohamed Adel, the killer of Naira Ashraf, live, which was included in the court's reasons for depositing it after the verdict was issued.

For his part, Professor of Criminal Law at Minya University, Mustafa Al-Saadawi, explained that the established rule is that a person’s violation of the law does not make him immune to the protection of the law, and if society punishes the accused for deviating from what he obliged to apply the death penalty, but the legislator organized the methods and cases of execution of the death penalty, nor It is correct and correct for the law to be executed in public, as the Egyptian legislator stipulated in Article 65 of the Prison Organization Law, which was renamed the “Law Regulating Reform and Community Rehabilitation Centers” for the death penalty.

He pointed out that the execution of the death penalty in accordance with Egyptian law specified procedural guarantees for it, not including broadcasting the judgment publicly, while specifying the persons who may attend the execution of this punishment exclusively, although the Public Prosecution was permitted to authorize the defense of the accused to attend the execution of the announcement penalty, and what The ruling decided it is nothing but an appeal to the legislator to amend the provisions of the law to allow the execution of the death sentence.

The law professor explained that if the court, for its part, concluded that the texts of the law must be amended, there are rules at the international level regulating the implementation of the death penalty in the legislation that retains the death penalty, and among these legislations is the "International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights", which specified In its second, third and fourth articles of the sixth paragraph, the methods of implementing the death penalty.

He added that the court wants to achieve general deterrence: “People know who committed the crime in this way, what happened to him.” The law does not make him immune to the protection of the law,” as the law protects guarantees for the executioner against whom the death sentence is imposed, and the facts of the execution of this sentence may not be published definitively.
