The National Festival of Egyptian Theater launched its 15th session, the day before yesterday, on the grand stage of the Opera House, with the participation of more than 30 performances among the best that were presented during the year on the theaters of the public, independent, university and labor sectors.
The festival’s Supreme Committee dedicated this session to the Egyptian theater director as one of the most important elements of the creative process, but he always stands behind the scenes, and dedicated it to the name of the late director, actor and author Aziz Eid (1884-1942), who is described as the first Egyptian theater director in the academic sense.
At the opening, the festival presented the musical show “Ya Aziz Aini” based on the book by the artist Safaa Al-Toukhi “Aziz Eid .. The Burning Bird of Art” starring Muhammad Fahim, Ibtihal Al-Saraiti, Mahmoud Al-Zayat, Maher Mahmoud, Hassan Abdullah and Ali Kamalo.
Festival Director Ismail Mokhtar said in the opening speech: “The theater director, that feisty creator who creates his creativity from managing the creations of others, reshapes the universe as he sees it, mixes the ink of writing lines with tones, and mixes the actor’s pulse and presence with the rhythm of colors of decoration and lighting, forms a rebel his luminous creativity. Then, when he is finished, he will be satisfied to bear the burden of everything on his shoulders.. alone.”
The festival honored actor and director Mohamed Sobhi, director Essam El-Sayed, director Murad Mounir, actor Sabri Abdel Moneim, actress Aida Fahmy, decorator Fadi Fouquet, director Nasser Abdel Moneim, director Ahmed Ismail, and the names of the departed Abdel Rahim Al-Zarqani and Amina Rizk.
The jury is chaired by actor Mahmoud El-Hadini, and the membership is: actor Kamal Aburia, writer Abdel Razek Hussein, director Hassan Al-Wazir, musician Mohamed Saad Pasha, show designer Rajwa Hamed, director Hani Abdel Moatamed, and interior engineer Mohamed Saad.
