[Explanation] The rectification of the ecological and environmental protection supervision of Yangzhou Canal Sanwan Scenic Spot has achieved results. The former "industrial rust belt" has been transformed into a "life show belt" and has become a beautiful wetland park. The thousand-year-old canal has ushered in the rebirth.
[Explanation] The biggest feature and deepest origin of Yangzhou's urban development is that it grows together with the canal.
Yangzhou was built by water, prospered by water, and beautiful because of water, but both sides of the ancient canal were once trapped by water.
Since the 1950s and 1960s, a large number of pesticide factories, pharmaceutical factories, dyeing and chemical factories and other enterprises have gathered in the Sanwan area of the ancient canal in Yangzhou. While contributing to economic development, they have caused damage to the ecological environment and deteriorated water quality. Shallow river silt, shanty towns, and rubbish all over the place have become a prominent weakness in ecological construction and urban management, and local people have expressed strong reactions.

(At that time) there was a garbage dump in front of the canal, and then there were resin factories, chemical factories, pesticide factories, and dyeing and chemical factories. Once they were produced, the smell of our residential area (floating) was terrible.
[Explanation] Since 2014, Yangzhou City has started to build a 3,800-mu Canal Sanwan Ecological Cultural Park in accordance with the concept of ecological restoration and urban repair, using the original canal wetland resources in Sanwan. Among the environmental problems along the Grand Canal, Yangzhou Sanwan is one of them.
After more than three years of governance, in September 2017, the three bays of the canal were newly unveiled, and the stinky "Longxugou" was transformed into a beautiful wetland park.
The Canal Sanwan Ecological and Cultural Park was also rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction at the end of 2018, and is open to citizens and tourists free of charge.

Our water quality has improved from the inferior V in 2016 to the current II to III water. The Sanwan area also has more than 500 kinds of aquatic plants, attracting more than 40 kinds of birds to inhabit and breed here. It should be said, It reproduces the beautiful ecological environment of the ancient canal with clear water and green shores, fish flying on the shallow bottom, and birds singing and flowers fragrant.
