The theatrical actress

Berta Riaza

has died this Sunday at the age of 94 in Madrid, reports the Film Academy, which says goodbye to the artist, extolling her as "one of the great theater performers in Spain."

Riaza, born in Madrid on July 27, 1927, starred in important functions of

'The diary of Anne Frank', 'The cherry orchard', 'Don Juan Tenorio' or 'The house of Bernarda Alba',

after debuting with ' Historia de una casa', by Joaquín Calvo Sotelo, in 1949. His last appearance on the big screen was in 2002, in the film Octavia by Basilio Martín Patino.

The artist has had an extensive career, both in theater and on television, from 1947 to 2004. Berta Riaza won the National Theater Award in 1992. The Institute of Performing Arts and Music ( INAEM), from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, has used social networks to say goodbye to "one of the largest".

"Today we say goodbye to Berta Riaza, one of the greatest actresses that the Spanish theater has produced and who leaves us the legacy of a luminous and prolific career devoted to the stage playing the great female characters of the universal dramatic repertoire. RIP, teacher" , the institution has indicated.

In this sense, some film personalities have also said goodbye to the artist, as is the case of

Antonio Banderas

, who has posted a tweet in her memory.

"The curtain has fallen for the great Berta Riaza", he pointed out, accompanied by a photograph of the artist.

Also, through Twitter,

Luis Merlos

has published his farewell to "a great actress" whom he thanks for the "memorable moments you gave with your performances".
