Gérard Tardy invokes “grievances of local residents” to prohibit until October 31 the gatherings of more than two people “when they disturb public order or hinder the passage of people at the entrances and exits of buildings and public roads”, in the central part of this town of 4,800 inhabitants, of which he has been mayor since 1989.

Young adults targeted

He cites as an example the "throwing of various garbage, dirt, noise, inappropriate or abusive remarks, improvised meals, car rodeos, spitting, acts of intimidation towards vulnerable people, drug or alcohol consumption, ball games" .

Among the recitals of the text dated July 12, the first magistrate of the town affirms that “groups of young adults of more than two people degenerate in more than 95% of cases”.

Julien Lequeux, municipal councilor of opposition, denounces for his part a process without “any utility because the identified disorders are already punished by law”.

"What surprises me is the reaction of the police commissioner of the sector, who believes that he will now be able to act on the basis of this decree", continues the elected official, calling on the mayor to "rather recruit one or two police officers additional municipal authorities and cooperate with neighboring towns on the ground of security”.
