Trump's wife: The day Congress was stormed, I was busy photographing the carpets of the White House!

The former US first lady, Melania Trump, revealed that she was unaware of the riots erupting the day the Capitol was stormed on January 6, 2021, because she was busy photographing a carpet in the White House.

"On January 6, 2021, I was performing one of my duties as First Lady of the United States of America, and therefore, I was unaware of what was happening at the same time in the US Capitol," Melania Trump said in an interview with "Fox News".

Trump said it was her "duty" as the first lady to archive the contents of the White House.

But according to CNN, this is not entirely true, as the White House Secretary and the White House Historical Society are mostly responsible for keeping a record of the official White House contents.

Melania added, "As with all First Ladies before me, it was my duty to record the contents of the historic rooms of the White House, including taking archival photographs of all renovations. Several months ago, I organized a qualified team of photographers, conservators, and designers to work with me in the White House." To ensure perfect execution... as required, we have set January 6, 2021 to complete the work on behalf of our nation."

According to Russia Today, Melania Trump's response comes several weeks after her former chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, revealed an exchange of text messages in which the former first lady responded to a tweet penned by Grisham calling for an end to the violence on Capitol Hill as it was happening.

The then First Lady responded with "No", refusing to send a statement condemning the rebellion.
