During the night of Wednesday to Thursday, the life of this young 18-year-old seasonal worker ended in the room of the Pontchaillou Hospital in Rennes where he had been admitted on Tuesday after a violent fall.

Originally from the area, this young man fell from a height of about 7 m when he was hanging on to the gondola of the Tour du Gué, one of the flagship attractions of Cobac Parc.

Since the tragedy, the amusement park based in Lanhélin, between Rennes and Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) has remained open.

Only the attraction where the young man fell remained closed, in particular for the purposes of the investigation.

In the ranks of the park staff, the emotion is obviously very strong.

“We are all in shock,” admits Régis Morçais.

The director of the Looping group, owner of Cobac Parc, does not wish to comment on the facts which led to the fall of the young seasonal worker.

“According to the first elements of the investigation, he would have voluntarily hung on the nacelle”, specified Thursday the public prosecutor of Saint-Malo Christine Le Crom.

The security of the installations is not in question.

Faced with the tragedy, the management ensures "to be in the accompaniment" of its staff and the family of the deceased.

Some personnel who witnessed the scene were particularly shocked by this accident.

“Teams that did not feel able to work were released,” promises Régis Morçais.

Tuesday, Cobac Parc will be closed, to allow the staff of the amusement park to go to the funeral of the young man, in agreement with the family.

About thirty people, most of whom are seasonal workers, work in the park.
