In Nagai City, Yamagata Prefecture, which has the highest production of kendama in Japan, kendama will be presented to all first graders in the city who have just entered the school.

A company in Nagai City that manufactures kendama has decided to give kendama to all 170 first graders who attend six elementary schools in the city so that they can be familiar with them from childhood.

One of them, the presentation ceremony was held at Nagai Elementary School on the 20th, and about 80 first grade children participated.

When President Yuji Umezu, a company that manufactures kendama, showed off his kendama techniques "airplane" and "around Japan," the children gave a big applause.

Then, he handed a poster with kendama and techniques to the first grader of the representative, and the child answered, "I will use it carefully".

The boy said, "I do platters and other tricks at home. I've been doing it since I was about 5 years old and I love kendama."

The girl child also said, "I got a green kendama. I want to play at home."

President Umezu said, "Kendama is one of Nagai's representative cultures and can be enjoyed by all ages, so I hope it will be an opportunity for communication."
