The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has announced "the largest offer in the history of the National Health System" of places for Specialized Health Training (FSE).

During the meetings of the Interterritorial Council that were held on Wednesday afternoon, the number of the ESF offer was specified:

11,112 in total

, which is

5% more than that of the previous call

(10,626 places) and 38 % more than in 2018, a record increase for the fourth consecutive year.

In the case of

Medicine

places , the offer approved by the Interterritorial Council contemplates a total of 8,503 (8,180, in the 2021/22 call).

In

Nursing ,

1,953 EIR places

will be offered

(1,822 in the previous call), so the greatest quantitative jump is registered here, with a 7% increase.

For

Pharmacy there will be

308

places, a figure that remains practically the same with respect to the previous call (309).

"These are days of

good news

for health professionals," said Darias at the press conference after the two Council meetings, one of them specific to professional issues.

Specifically, this extraordinary meeting dealt with the already well-known Royal Decree regulating the transversal training of specialties in Health Sciences.

The minister highlighted its pioneering nature: "For the first time, cross-cutting training is regulated, with common content throughout the ESF system to

guarantee a set of cross-cutting skills

, such as bioethics, SNS principles and values, and digital training, among others".

deficit specialties

The offer of FSE places for 2022-2023, and specifically those of deficit specialties, has been the most anticipated among what was announced by the minister this afternoon.

Of the

8,503

places for

Medicine

, 323 more than in the previous call, there will be

73 for Family Medicine

.

In addition, " 20 places

are going to be incorporated for the first time

, provisionally, in

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

", the minister also announced, and recalled that they have already approved more than 400 applications to access this recently created specialty.

Darias has emphasized the record that this offer represents and the intention to continue increasing it, "as long as the autonomous communities continue to increase teaching accreditations and, therefore, offer all existing places.

Between the accredited places and those offered there is an important difference."

The minister added "We have requested an additional effort to offer all of them, especially in the specialties where we have a deficit. This is the case of Family and Community Medicine, where there are 93 places that can be offered more and that for different reasons has not been done. We have given this week a deadline for them to make an effort and try to do it as a Family, but also in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology, which are more difficult.
