500 people die due to extreme heat in Spain

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced today, Wednesday, during a trip to Aragon, the northern region of the country affected by the fires, that the heat wave that has hit Spain for about ten days has killed more than 500 people.

He added, "During the heat wave, more than 500 people died due to high temperatures, according to data," referring to the estimates of excess deaths published by the Institute of Public Health.
