• In its summer series entitled

    Tour Manèges

    , the editorial staff of

    20 Minutes invites

you to dive into the secrets of sensational attractions.

  • Today, we present to you IMAscore, a very reputable firm in the field of amusement parks.

  • Its eight composers work with parks around the world and enhance the visitor experience by adding music to the rides.

In amusement parks, it's not just the physical jolts caused by the rides.

The music is also part of the experience by heightening the sensations of the visitors.

IMAscore, a German company founded in 2010, has understood this well.

"We add an epic breath to attractions and sometimes even to entire areas of the parks, a way of immersing the visitor even more in his visit," explains Xaver Willebrand, one of the directors and founders of the firm.

IMAscore did not invent this concept, Disneyland had already paved the way for this area (anyone who has ridden the

It's a Small World

attraction knows what we are talking about).

But they have democratized music for the parks with great talent.

Take the

Taron rollercoaster

at PhantasiaLand in Germany.

The sudden acceleration of the train is underlined by music that gives the impression of being part of a great adventure!

The heart soars in the chest between sounds and sensations.

“We base ourselves on the rollercoaster

circuit

, on its rhythm and on its thematization,” explains Xaver Willebrand.

Not even (so) expensive

Ditto for

Le Ptéranodon

, the dizzying flying chairs from

BabyLand

in the Paris region!

“We have eight composers who share the work according to their preferences and their skills, and I serve as a buffer between them and the clients who are not always very precise in what they want,” explains Xaver Willebrand.

Sometimes it takes multiple back and forth between management and musicians to get the perfect sound.

“It's often the park managers themselves who are my interlocutors because they like the idea of participating in an artistic project.

IMAscore is slowly expanding by also offering completely themed attractions, scenery included.

The company is collaborating on two huge, still secret projects, one in France, the other in Orlando in the United States.

"The parks are loyal customers on whom we can count", insists Xaver Willebrand.

Not even (so) expensive!

Icing on the merry-go-round, the services of these dynamic Germans are not overpriced.

“Roughly €400 per minute of music is charged, which is very competitive, a big 8 will cost around €10,000”, says Xaver Willebrand.

Of course, big projects in big parks cost more but, honestly, when you hear what IMAscore is capable of, it's worth it.

The next time you visit a park, listen carefully: it may be tickled by the magicians of IMAscore.
