Fires in Gironde: the mayor of La Teste-de-Buch salutes "the exceptional solidarity of the basin"

The two fires that have been ravaging the Gironde for a week were still not fixed on Tuesday morning.

Operations are made difficult on site because of the scorching weather conditions and a rotating wind that constantly changes the course of the fire.

More than 37,000 residents or vacationers were evacuated, 19,000 hectares were burned and five campsites on the Dune du Pilat were destroyed.

Among the evacuees, the mayor of La Teste-de-Buch Patrick Davet, also had to leave his house, he was the guest of RFI at the microphone of Clémentine Pawlotsky.
