For SessionLab, Hortense Volle met the one who is "burning the stage" at the moment with the rap/rock fusion group Ausgang, Casey.

Portrait of a hardcore rapper who still has "cartridges to spit".

An original podcast with strong rap, rock and zouk.

Listen with headphones (3D audio).

In 2020, 10 years after the release of

Unleash the Beast

, his 2nd solo album, Casey made a sensational comeback with Ausgang.

A group that the rapper with acerbic rhymes and an angry flow formed with Sonny Troupé (ka drum player, here on drums), Marc Sens (guitar) and ManuSound (machines).

Together, they delivered

Gangrène,

a dark and radical rap/rock fusion album.

Ten texts and as many

"

spitting cartridges"

to use the terms of Casey, who digs here the path taken for more than twenty years now: a constant questioning of questions of identity, the weight of colonialism, social immobility and the hexagonal frustrations.

To understand the Ausgang project, I went to the Dynamo de Pantin, in the northeast of Paris, where the group was in rehearsal before resuming a tour that had been interrupted for too long.

And it is in the garden of this former industrial factory rehabilitated into a concert hall, that Casey offered us a conversation in complete privacy and in 3D audio.

A podcast to listen to with headphones in which she looks back on: her childhood between Rouen, the capital of Normandy where she was born, and Martinique;

his first musical emotions (from Kassav' to Public Enemy via Rage Against the Machine);

the northern suburbs of Paris where she refined her style and where she still lives today or her relationship to the African continent.
