There are records that are disturbing to see fall.

This one is historic.

And scary.

In Ouessant, the temperature exceeded 30 degrees this Monday around 2 p.m.

A first since the beginning of meteorological records and undoubtedly a first in the modern history of our planet.

The island located a little less than 20 kilometers from the coast of North Finistère is the westernmost of metropolitan France.

But this Monday, she did not resist the exceptional heat wave that hit all of Europe.

According to Météo Bretagne, the highest temperature ever recorded in Ouessant was 29.3 degrees during the 2003 heat wave.

The figure will undoubtedly give rise to some ridicule about the Breton climate.

A 30 degree heat wave?

But it's every day with us, say the Marseillais and the people of Nice.

This Monday, July 18, it is however on a piece of rock usually swept by winds and storms that the threshold was crossed.

According to forecasters, the Ouessant weather station was the only one in mainland France to have never recorded 30 degrees, with the exception of those installed in the mountains.

The Breton island will not be the only one to break records this Monday.

Finistère had never experienced a temperature above 40 degrees.

While all of Brittany is on heatwave red alert, the historic heat record should soon be broken.

That of Nantes has already been swept away with more than 41 degrees recorded at 3 p.m.

And the day is not over.
