Recently, a new concept virtual studio is used instead of a green screen when producing movies or dramas.



Large corporations are also jumping into related businesses, and reporter Lee Ju-hyeong visited Virtual Studio, which has emerged as a new paradigm for film shooting.

The largest virtual studio in Korea located near Seoul.



Opening a retractable door made of large LED walls reveals a photo shoot set modeled after the French Opera House.



However, this is not a real set, but a flat screen with 3D CG images on a large LED screen.



Sculptures realized as 3D graphic data are captured from any angle, as if the camera and real-time 3D engine communicate with each other to create a three-dimensional real-world background.



If you turn off the LED video, you can see that this is a 360-degree virtual studio surrounded by LEDs on all four sides as well as the ceiling.



Up until now, most film studios have used blue or green screens, but recently virtual studio shooting has been on the rise.



Even in places where filming is normally restricted for security reasons, such as at an airport boarding gate, you can use Virtual Studio to shoot movies or dramas at any time.



Not only does it save time and money for set production, but it also enhances immersion because the actors act with real backgrounds floating around.

With the rapid rise of K-content and the use of video content as various business means, SK Telecom or CJ Large corporations like ENM have also recently entered this market.



Last month, SK Telecom opened a new large virtual studio in Pangyo and CJ ENM in Paju.



After more than 60 years of developing chroma key technology, a new paradigm called virtual studio has begun to take hold in the video industry.
