It has been 15 years since the Niigata Chuetsu-oki Earthquake, which observed a maximum seismic intensity of 6 upper, in 16 days.

At the TEPCO Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station, training was conducted on the assumption that a fire broke out due to the earthquake.

The 2007 Niigata Chuetsu-oki Earthquake caused a fire at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, as well as problems such as the leakage of trace amounts of radioactive materials.

The training on the 15th was conducted on the assumption that an earthquake with a seismic intensity of less than 6 occurred in the Chuetsu region and a fire broke out inside the nuclear power plant, and about 150 people including power plant staff and local firefighters participated. ..

At the Response Headquarters, which serves as a base for emergencies, we confirmed the sharing of trouble information such as the emergency diesel generator not starting, and the procedure for instructing response.

We also conducted water discharge training in collaboration with the local fire department on the assumption that the light oil tank was cracked and a fire broke out.

Director Takeyuki Inagaki, who completed the training, said, "Because I realized that cooperation with local fire departments is indispensable for the Chuetsu-oki earthquake, the significance of joint training is great."

In addition, Kashiwazaki City Fire Department Chief Yamazaki said, "As the number of members who know the time is decreasing, it is very important to continue training, and I want to keep my knowledge and lessons from becoming a mere ghost."
