Naji Primary School in Yixiang Town, Simao District, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province became the first elephant-prevention primary school in the country because of the construction at the gate of the school to prevent Asian elephants from entering the campus.

A few days ago, these elephant prevention facilities worked again and successfully prevented Asian elephants from entering the campus.

  Recently, Naji Primary School in Yixiang Town, Simao District received a call from a local Asian elephant monitor, informing that several elephants were approaching the school. After receiving the call, the school immediately deployed safety measures. The elephant really came to the school gate.

  Since that day was not a weekend, there were still students living on campus. If Asian elephants entered the campus, it would have serious consequences. What prevented the Asian elephants from entering the campus was a row of steel protective barriers at the school gate.

  The area where Naji Primary School is located is at the junction of Simao District of Pu'er City and Jiangcheng County, where more than 20 Asian elephants are active all year round, and there have been incidents of Asian elephants entering the campus.

In order to ensure the safety of teachers and students, with the support of the local party committee and government, Naji Primary School not only heightened and reinforced the wall, but also built facilities such as guardrails to prevent wild elephants from colliding with them.
