China News Service, Beijing, July 15th. For the past few days, the high temperature has continued in many places in the south, and the "stove" mode has been on standby for a long time.

According to reports, many people in Zhejiang, Sichuan, Henan and other places have been diagnosed with heat stroke and even died.

  What exactly is heat stroke?

How fierce is this round of hot weather?

How long will it be hot?

How hot is this summer?

——The high temperature time exceeded 30 days, and 71 weather stations broke through the historical extreme value

According to the monitoring of the National Climate Center, since June this year (as of July 12), the average number of high temperature days in my country has been 5.3 days, which is 2.4 days more than the same period of normal years, the most in the same period in history since 1961.

Since June 13, my country has experienced the first regional high temperature weather process this year, with a wide range, long duration, strong extremes and great impact.

As of July 12, the high temperature event has lasted for 30 days, covering a land area of 5.021 million square kilometers and affecting more than 900 million people.

The highest temperature of 71 national meteorological stations across the country broke through the historical extreme, among which the highest daily temperature in Hebei Lingshou (44.2°C), Gaocheng (44.1°C), Zhengding (44.0°C) and Yunnan Yanjin (44.0°C) reached 44°C above.

In the near future, on July 13, a wide range of high-temperature weather occurred in the south, with the highest in parts of eastern Sichuan, Chongqing, southeastern Shaanxi, western Hubei, southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, northeastern Jiangxi, and central and northern Fujian. The temperature reached 38-41 ℃, Sichuan Gulin 42.6 ℃.

On July 14, Zhejiang, Chongqing, Yunnan, Jiangsu and other places issued more than 70 high temperature red warnings.

On July 12, in Nanjing, Jiangsu, citizens passed by the streets in a heat wave.

On the same day, the Jiangsu Meteorological Observatory issued a red warning signal for high temperature.

Why do high temperature heat waves occur frequently?

——Global warming, atmospheric circulation anomalies, La Niña events

The world has just experienced its third hottest June on record, with widespread extreme heat events, according to the European Copernicus Climate Change Service, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has announced.

Meteorological experts analyzed that global warming is the climate background for frequent high temperature and heat wave events in the northern hemisphere, and the abnormal atmospheric circulation is the direct cause of the frequent high temperature and heat waves in many places around the world since June.

Specifically in my country, the ongoing La Niña event has provided important climatic background conditions for the occurrence and development of high temperature in the south since June this year. In particular, the development of the mid-latitude warm high pressure belt has strengthened in July, resulting in a wide range of high temperature weather.

It is understood that since the beginning of the 21st century, the typical years of large-scale continuous high temperature events in my country are 2003, 2013, and 2017.

Overall, this year's high temperature event started earlier than the above-mentioned three years, and the duration and number of historical extreme stations are currently less than these three years. Although the scope of influence and the highest temperature at a single station are not as good as those in 2017, they have exceeded those in 2003. and 2013.

How long will the hot weather last?

——In the next ten days, there will be more high temperature and less rain in the southern region

According to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, since July 6, the Central Meteorological Observatory has issued a high temperature warning for 9 consecutive days.

It is expected that by the 17th, the high temperature, fine and hot weather in the eastern Sichuan Basin, Jianghuai, Jianghan, Jiangnan, South China and other places will continue.

The Central Meteorological Observatory forecasts high temperature across the country on July 14

From the 17th to the 20th, rainfall occurred in the Sichuan Basin, Jianghan, Jianghuai, western and northern Jiangnan, and northwestern South China. The high temperature weather was relieved, and the hot and muggy weather continued in the southeastern Jiangnan and eastern South China.

After the 21st, the high temperature in the southern region will develop again and the scope will expand. The daily maximum temperature in Fujian, Jiangxi, southern Zhejiang and other places can reach 39 to 41 °C.

What exactly is heat stroke?

- Severe heatstroke, which can be life-threatening

According to the "Expert Consensus on Diagnosis and Treatment of Heat Stroke in China", "Heat Stroke" is a fatal disease caused by thermal injury factors acting on the body.

When the temperature is too high, the balance of water and electrolysis in the human body will be destroyed, causing a series of physical discomforts such as dizziness and chest tightness, which is called heat stroke.

The classification of "heat stroke" in heatstroke is severe heatstroke.

Heat stroke usually occurs in summer with high temperature and high humidity, and usually manifests as high fever, body temperature above 40°C, dry and hot skin without sweating, mental disorder, and organ failure.

If there is no timely and proper treatment, the fatality rate of heat stroke ranges from 20% to 70%, and it can be as high as 80% for patients over 50 years old.

Who is prone to heat stroke?

——The elderly, children and outdoor workers should pay attention

There are two main groups of people who need heat stroke prevention.

One type is mainly caused by the imbalance of body heat production and heat dissipation caused by high-intensity physical activity. It is common in healthy young people who exercise vigorously in summer, such as officers and soldiers, athletes, firefighters, and construction workers who participate in training in summer.

The other type is common in young people, pregnant women and the elderly, or individuals with chronic underlying diseases or impaired immune function. It is usually caused by passive exposure to the thermal environment, resulting in an imbalance between heat production and heat dissipation.

Experts remind that for heat stroke, prevention is very important.

To avoid going out during high temperature periods, strengthen ventilation, maintain a suitable room temperature, and take precautions when in direct sunlight for a long time.

In a high temperature and high humidity environment, if you experience heat stroke symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, dizziness, headache, shortness of breath, etc., move to a cool, ventilated place to rest as soon as possible.
