The criminal police in Stuttgart have to solve two mysterious deaths in the catering trade of Italians.

On Monday, two 53-year-old men were found dead in the basement of a well-known Italian restaurant near the university campus in the city center.

The detectives found serious injuries on their bodies, which they could have inflicted with knives or broken bottlenecks.

The dead are said to be the manager of the restaurant and a close business partner who is said to have run another well-known restaurant with the relatives of the restaurant manager.

To clarify the exact circumstances and causes of death, the public prosecutor's office ordered the autopsy of the bodies and a toxicological report, a routine measure, the police said.

Because the room in which the two bodies were found was apparently locked, the investigators consider it impossible that a third party could have been involved in the crime.

The police also believe that speculation that the deaths could be attributed to the mafia or organized crime (OC) is unlikely.

The most likely scenario is that the two men got into a family or business dispute.

Parties and associations like to use the restaurant for events.

Twelve years ago, in March 2010, there was a sensational murder case in the Italian restaurant scene in the Baden-Württemberg state capital.

At that time, the chef of another Italian restaurant, which is also located in the university park, was shot dead by an employee on the street.

The perpetrator was sentenced to life imprisonment.
