In Amiens (Somme), end-of-life food that has not been consumed by children in schools and leisure centers will now be donated to the department's food bank.

Indeed, an agreement between this structure and the municipality was signed on Tuesday, reports the

.

A similar system already existed between the city and the Restos du Coeur since 2020.

This summer, the association will temporarily close its doors.

The approximately 800 kg monthly food surplus therefore had to find another recipient.

At the start of the school year, the two charities will share food from the town's central kitchen.

A noticeable mess

Due to student absences or class closures, many foods ended up being lost and unfit for consumption at the end of each day.

7,000 daily meals are prepared for the children of the city.
