Daily drinks for diabetics reduce the risk of death

Chronic diseases stand in the way of longevity, as they increase the individual's vulnerability to other diseases, and this is especially true for diabetics.

This chronic condition can make the patient more susceptible to a host of other conditions, including cancer and heart disease.

Fortunately, it has been shown that drinking a particular beverage can reduce the risk of all-cause mortality in people with type 2 diabetes.

Researchers have found that drinking four cups of green tea a day can help type 2 diabetics live longer.

The longevity effect was also observed in participants who drank coffee.

"We showed that increased consumption of green tea and coffee was significantly associated with reduced all-cause mortality," said study lead author Dr Yuji Komorita, from Kyushu University.

The trial involved monitoring the health of nearly 5,000 people with type 2 diabetes in Japan.

Their average age was 66 and they were asked to record the number of hot drinks they drank per day.

The study, published in the journal BMJ Open Diabetes Research and Care, found that coffee drinkers drinking one cup a day reduced the risk of death by 19%, while drinking two cups on a daily basis reduced the risk by 41%.

But the biggest difference was between participants who drank four cups of green tea and two or more cups of coffee per day, reducing their risk of early death by 63%.

However, researchers are still not sure why the two drinks have such a positive effect on health.

And they suggested it might have something to do with the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds found in green tea.

Coffee, which contains several bioactive components, has previously been found to alter insulin production and sensitivity.

Dr. Komorita concluded: "Compared with those who drank neither beverage, those who drank one or both had lower odds of death from any cause, with the lowest odds associated with drinking greater amounts of green tea and coffee."

A body of evidence points to the benefits of drinking green tea, as it contains nutrients and plant compounds, including antioxidants, that can have positive health effects, such as increasing metabolism, helping protect against prostate and breast cancer and supporting the immune system.

It also plays a role in helping the brain function.

Weight loss is also among the long list of benefits associated with green tea.

Research also says that green tea can give us a calming effect being a good source of the amino acid L-theanine, which is associated with improving mood.

Some studies show that the catechins in green tea help protect the skin from UV damage and prevent and protect tissues in our bodies from damage.

To avoid possible side effects, it is necessary to drink green tea in moderation (about eight cups per day).
