Welcome to this fourth season of the series "Mysteries from here", the secret series of the podcast "Summer in your ears" devoted to the extraordinary stories, stories and legends of our regions.

From Aix-en-Provence to Strasbourg, via Rennes-le-Château, guides, historians, authors and storytellers tell you the mysteries of our regions.

These stories summon History, local identities, but also fears and desires...

"Jean l'Ecorcheur", or the little red man

For the first episode of this season, let's walk around the Louvre Palace in Paris with Daniel Soulié, head of mediation at the museum, archaeologist, art historian and author of works on the Louvre.

The Louvre, palace of kings, is home to not one, but ghosts...

"The real ghost is someone who called the little red man," says Daniel Soulié.

This man was born in 1564, when work on the Tuileries Palace began.

Catherine de Medici, then Queen Mother (…) had the palace built.

And among those who frequent the site, there is someone called "Jean l'Ecorcheur", a butcher who worked near the palace, in a slaughterhouse.

Apparently he was privy to secrets he shouldn't have known.

He will be slaughtered by someone close to Catherine de Medici…”.

But before dying, Jean l'écorcheur will launch fatal predictions, which Daniel Soulié recounts in this episode.

Belphegor, a ghost who has become famous

Another ghost haunting the Louvre, it is the famous Belphégor

,

born under the pen of Arthur Bernède in 1927. Adapted in series in the 1960s, Belphégor, played by Juliette Greco, was then a huge success.

The ghost in the black mask will return to the cinema in 2001 with Sophie Marceau.
