After the discovery of more than a ton of cocaine in the Aschaffenburg container terminal, three men from the Netherlands are in custody.

The 22, 26 and 45-year-old suspects were arrested on June 21 when they wanted to pick up the goods worth around 100 million euros, the customs investigation office (ZFA) announced on Monday in Munich.

According to the authorities, this is the largest single quantity of the drug that has been seized in Bavaria to date.

Jürgen Thiel, head of combating drug smuggling at the ZFA, spoke of a thriller.

Investigations are still underway to catch those behind the action.

The goods were in a container with medical products that a company in Friedberg, Hesse, had ordered.

Authorities from abroad had given the German investigators a tip that there could be a large amount of cocaine in it.

The delivery from the Dominican Republic was transported to Aschaffenburg via Hamburg.

There the investigators were able to secure the cocaine on the night of June 16th.

According to the investigators, the container, now without contraband, was then delivered to Friedberg.

On June 21, the suspects then tried to pick up the cocaine in the parking lot of the medical device company.

They were arrested at the same time.
