Sharjah Museums Summer Camp kicks off on the 18th of this month

The Sharjah Museums Authority has opened the door for registration for the interactive "Happy Vacation" camp, whose program includes entertainment and educational programs that invest the school vacation in a way that contributes to enhancing students' cultural stocks, refining their talents, and helping them open up to other worlds.

The camp, which targets students from the age of six to 12, includes two phases, the first starting on July 18 and lasting 10 days, while the second phase will be launched in early August and end on the 11th of the same month.

The first phase of the camp is organized in four museums, namely the Sharjah Aquarium, the Sharjah Science Museum, the Sharjah Archeology Museum, and the Sharjah Art Museum.

While the second phase will be held at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, the Sharjah Maritime Museum, and the Al Mahatta Museum.

The camp’s agenda includes a range of activities that allow participants to learn about marine creatures, their types and their beautiful world, and the phenomenon of marine pollution that threatens their lives, in addition to competitions, paragraphs and workshops, which provide educational benefit in an interesting way for children, helping them to achieve fun and benefit together.

Director-General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, Manal Ataya, said: “The authority’s main goals are to prepare and educate generations that understand the importance of museums as an important source for various arts and sciences, through programs and activities that we organize throughout the year, including the summer camp, which is an ideal opportunity to invest children’s leisure time in Creative learning and communication with others.

She added: “Museums play a role in integrating and involving children, a mission that the authority has been carrying out for more than a decade, despite being informal educational spaces, as it organized free programs and activities designed specifically to provide unforgettable educational experiences, spark imagination, as well as present them Unique environments that make a great contribution to creating fun time for children with their families.”

For her part, educational and psychological consultant Hiam Abu Mashaal confirmed that organizing such summer camps contributes to the psychological and social development of the child's personality, helps direct his energies towards positive horizons, and enhances motivation and desire for exploration and research since childhood.

While Professor of Sociology at the University of Sharjah, Dr. Ahmed Al-Amoush, described the camps as "pioneering initiatives", as they represent preventive programs that protect children from the routine they live in during the summer vacation, and help integrate them into cultural and cognitive life.
